Things I might forget!!

I’m getting so many places to go that I forget sometimes!!

My go at Podcasting (Scott calls it the 2CH of podcasting!!)

I made these with Audacity and put them up on mypodcast.com

Working with Audio Books:

I have been working with a school on Audio Books for iPods especially for Special Needs kids and I just want to record my travels so that I can remember later.

First up:

EVERYTHING (and I mean that !) is on Jeanette Davies’ Website (she works with Librarians and Special Needs in Wollongong Catholic Diocese). She’s the guru so check her out first!!

My reflections:

  • I made an audible account. I needed a credit card. They charge a monthly fee plus cost of the book.
  • I used PC and this required download of a Download Manager which really just pre-loaded the book into my iTunes library (Jeannette has plenty on that).
  • I had a few hassles at first but eventually things sorted fine.
  • The file comes with DRM an .aa file which is Audible’s own.
  • There are a number of portable devices which are supported for this format.
  • If you want to play the file in iTunes on your (or anyone else’s) computer you have to authorise the computer with your Audible account details.
  • If your device is unsupported (Creative etc., tough…). MY spies tell me that it is possible to remove the DRM (and hence play it on anything) using Tunebite — but this would be illegal in this situation and I would never try that!!
  • For school libraries Jeannette has info on an agreement with Audible for up to three copies to be loaned if the file is catalogued etc. through the Library.
